水草情迷

Ching們，我的小寶塔的莖節越長越長，應該是追光吧！14w*4 T5, 燈至泥面距離13吋。想問ching除了加燈之外，可否加長光照時間來解決問題？如果要加燈，又應該加多少才足夠呢？先謝過！

T5 14Wx4 is definitely not enough for your tank. Also, make sure that the tubes are of 6500K. In that case, prolonging the lighting hours can't help much - what's worse, it will have algae burst. For your tank size, you'd better have at least 24Wx3.

gwong: One more thing about your lighting hours and CO2 supply. Most of the pros here would recommend natural lighting hours, say 11:00am-7:00pm. If for some reasons you have to insist the existing schedule, make sure the tank is well covered, i.e. total black out. Then your CO2 supply should be:
1. 15:00-18:00/ 20:00-23:00 (I suppose the lighting time for the second session should be 19:30-23:00); or
2. 14:30-18:30/ 19:30-23:30.

Fish Fan - thanks for reminding me. In fact, my tank is placed away from the window. Therefore it is in a totally dark environment unless I turn on the light.

Do both "1. 15:00-18:00/ 20:00-23:00" and "2. 14:30-18:30/ 19:30-23:30" are CO2 supply? May I know your suggestion on the lighting schedule? Thanks in advance.

gwong: Yes, those are the schedule of CO2 supply based on your current lighting hours. If you're going to change the lighting schedule, I'll say 10:00am-6:00pm. So the CO2 supplying hours would be 10:30am-5:30pm.

大部分草缸燈照時間為8-14hrs, 所以你可以試試8hrs
如果你個缸會受自然光影響, 10am - 6pm 係一個唔錯的選擇
當然, 呢個時候多數人都要返工返學, 睇唔到開左燈嘅缸, 自己取捨了

今日買咗set T5HO 24W * 4, 但係發覺佢係配咗10,000K 嘅光管, 其實我睇過幾個牌子, 全部都係用10,000K 嘅光管, 請問ching點解呢? 我又要唔要換返6,500K嘅光管呢?

Yes, you have to replace them all with Philips 865 tubes.

Is it a reason for the manufactures to sell their products with 10000k tubes but not 6500k?

gwong: Don't worry. It's just happened that 6500K tubes are required for planted tanks. For other purpose, 10000K is still fine.
