Eheim is the best. For my 24"x12"x14" tank, I use 2026 and connect it to an UV and chiller. The flow rate is just fit.

Eheim is not the only choice. There are other good foreign brands, like JBL, Fuval, Tetra, etc. AquaOne and Wisdom are also good foreign brands.

Actually what type of filter to use depends on what fishes/plants you want to have. A hang-on filter + internal filter may be sufficient for an ordinary freshwater 24" tank.

China brand products like Atman is also good choice, if considered from price, and buying from reliable shop so that exchange can be made if there is QC problem like leakage or being noisy. I have experience if Atman products. Actually quite good.
