Many people will only say Eheim. But in the real world, there are many choices.
For example, I am using a JBL Cristal 120, which is similar to 2215 in flow rate. It is very silent and cost only around HK$400. I think it is very good as it is made in Germany.
For China products, I have used the hang-on filter of Sun Sun HBL-600 of around 500L/h. It only cost HK$50 but it is very silent - to the point I cannot hear any sound. It is more silent than my 5 years old Eheim hang-on filter, which in the first few years also very silent but starts to have sound later. From the cost consideration, it is only 1/4 the price of Eheim product but the quality is very good.
For me, I prefer to buy China products in Shenzhen, so that I can test the products (e.g. pour water in it and plug the power) since the QC of China products are poor. People in China also welcome people to test their products until satisifaction. Sometimes, I feel that HK people has the advantage of easily buying China products and we should take it.
