水草缸最重要就是站著手指可以到泥面(小弟意見),我的缸是21"高+魚櫃共59"(人人高度不同),剛剛好！

May be for american cichlid or arowana...

Any suggestion on the thickness of glass?

I think you should made it with 1/2 inche glass in order to compensate the water pressure. Also, 30 inches in height is difficult for maintance. 24 inches is more suitable since the water level will be about 18 inches (minus the height occupy by the bottom glass, "担" and soil).

Hi Tony,

Could u tell me how to insert the plants into the soil in your case. Use a very long forceps or by your hands?
My tank is 26" in depth with similar problem of you (but not servious than u)...
Also, as seem from the pic, your carbinet is made of wood, how can it stand for the weight of your tank (~2000 lb)

To tony: sorry, my eye is too fast . Your is really beautiful ar, it likes a part of the huge aquarium tank seen in Ocean park for the 1st photo!
To Lachesis: I have the same idea early as this is also suggested by FS. But I ask the glass shop(as i want to order in glass shop for cheaper price), the boss said that 3/8" is enough for 5 feet tank as mine. He also claims that he made a 6 feet large tank for a Sai Kung sea food shop before, Tong Kee, he also use 3/8 ...I also suspect it!!!!!! He insist it is enough!
So I want to get more idea on that here.

3/8"實在太冒險，我o既缸用1/2"夠穩陣,FS D魚缸多數起祖國做，
細個3'的缸我會在FS買，特別係鯛缸,有得4'以上我就一定搵XX做，聽講FS某間個座地缸，落水時都衰O左，佢唔係搵XX做，大庭廣眾唔講咁多，PM 我留電話(如果方便)

If your water level is more than 24", I think u better to use 1/2" glass for the decoration since the water pressure depends on how depth of your water column.
