hmm.. why? You could gradually reduce the level by using strong acid... and in your external filter, you need all kinds of acidic filtrates...

1. Peat moss, acidic leaves, using the "acidic" bio-rings, ...

2. Your female fish is very pretty. I think it is quite small and maybe smaller than mine... so, you may wish to let her grow larger before pairing up...

Yes, it is very small, mayb 3.5 - 4cm, at most. I separate them by dividing the tank into 2. I will wait until she grows up in order to pairing up. However, I am thinking of pairing up the Wild Male with the other Female. Hopfully, they will soon give me a reward.

Will do this next weekend, this weekend, I am very busy~!

It is difficult for me to stabilize the pH under 4.
The chemical liquid can do the thing but not long last!
But I will try your method later!

e.g. for a 24" tank 50L water, add 3 to 5mg/l sera pH reduce agent everyday, test the pH everyday, stop until reach your desire value.

Please think twice for the pairing... i am sure that your wildcaught male will fight very fiercely with the other female... and your other male may not like the wildcaught female, too.... be careful...

Hmm, i understand what you mean... while how about your other setting? For me, i use pH down treated water in all water exchange for the adoketa tank... together with all those acidic stuff, pH is always easily maintained at a level around 4.x woo......

For the detailed amount, i could not remember now as i am dropping the pH down into a 4Liter container before adding into the tank... by the way, i never add a lot of pH down at the same time to the tank.. it is dangerous.

In principle, distilled water is actually NOT preferred for keeping fish in the long run as it lacks all kinds of minerals... i remember the fish's kidney will get hurt IF we use distilled water for a long time... actually, tap water can be used if (i) we have air-bubbled/kept them for some days (or put them under sunshine for some days); (ii) the water has been boiled; (iii) the quantity is small... for me, if time does not allow me to have the prepared water, i will pour tap water directly into the tank... but never exceed 1/5. It should be safe. For my shrimp tanks, i use distilled water + cooled down - boiled water... no shrimp has died so far
