hmm, nice setting in principle. Did you observe any
big fight between the male and female?
BTW, why do you use CRS black soil?
it tends to be neural/alkaline... for adoketa,
a low pH is useful... my breeding tank's pH is
set at 4.0-4.5 by using sulphric acid!!
The pair are currently keep in a divided tank. According to my observation, the male enjoy swimming up and down alongside with the female, I feel like he wants to make friends with the female, however, the only 1 time, I see aggressiveness from the male to the female, is just right after I put in the mirror for the male for display pics.
How about your newly acquired pair?? Any update??
As for my setting, I forgot to mention the Sera Super Peat that I put inside tea bags. As such, the ph level is keep at a consistant level at ph 5.3-5.6, however, I did try to further lowering by adding Amtra Oak Bark Extract to ph 4.8 (the lowest I had tried). With either ph level, they laid eggs, but niether level, there is an success. I shall try breed them artifically next time, given that the female doesn't eat the eggs too soon! Oh, these experience are for my 1st pair!
As for the 2nd pair, there is no sign of the female wanting to lay eggs and I not yet observe any shaking behaviour from her!
After reading your reply to Bro Dummy, saying the water current of your tank is very slow, I may consider removing the internal filter (Eheim Magic Ball), since I have an EX90 as filteration. The reason I add the Magic Ball Filter, was that I thought the current too slow, that's was why I add another one!
