I think sometimes nature does its job better than what mankind can do. Take the mini pearl grass as an example: It grows so slow that I gave up on them months ago. I stopped trimmimg. Change water and fertilize the tank only when I remember to do so (that will be once every 3 weeks!!) and now you see what happened to the carpet of grass!!
I think the plants won't grow well even if you take care of them every minute. Let nature does it job, give it some time and the result can be quite unexpected.
