Ming2000,
I appreciate your care for the fish, which are often neglected by many of the equipment and system geeks like me, but there are some little tricks you can do to enhance the presentation of your tank and, more importantly, the maintenance of a healthy habitat for your fish:
For tank presentation, I suggest you can use a dark, non-reflecting wallpaper and undergravel (e.g. black sand/stone whatever), which can make your tetra look more shiny.
For water quality, there are two problems of your undergravel:
1. it is i.) thick and ii.) have big gaps => can easily collect uneaten food (unless you under feed your fish) and cause bacterial and worms overgrowth
2. the stones are too big so the usual undergravel cleaners won't work
So I suggest you change it to smaller grains (try to choose darker colored ones) which can be sucked up by the undergravel cleaners
