Result: CO2 100% dissolves

Working principle very simple: keep the co2 in water long enough and mix it well with water until all dissolve.

Bubbles wanted to rise to the top, but get pushed down to the bottom by the water current from the pump.Bioballs break up the CO2 bubbles & let bubbles stick to the balls' surface for longer contact with water.
Water and dissolved CO2 exit from the bottom. Small pieces of filter fibre placed under the balls(not shown) to totally block any co2 bubbles from escaping.

CO2 100%溶解 if no bubbles escape to the surface, all disappear in the water.

I used glass ceramic diffuser b4 but find that many co2 escape to the water surface. I think maybe more than half the co2 escape and is very inefficient. But buying a co2 reactor costs > $100++ (just the reactor only, pump not included!). So diy. Look little ugly but it works. diy can't expect too much about look . Hide it at corner, cover by plants look ok.

but I wonder, if the reactor can run without a pump is the best, as pump induces heat and waste electricity...

Coolpix: u can connect it to the output of your filter. As long as u can create water current in the reactor, it works. I first wanted to connect it to my filter output, but position not looking good, cuz i wanted to hide it at a corner.
Efficient reactor (100% dissolve) usually needs some water current.
btw, pump is low in energy use, mine is only 3.8W.

這樣看來 這好像是利用生化球（bioballs）溶在水中產生的Co2氣泡不致馬上浮出的水流裝置，有關bioballs的部分小弟不是很明瞭，Alan2002兄能否說明一下？
這樣子產出Co2，是否無法定時控制？晚上水草不行光合作用時是否無法關閉？如此不就得依賴打氣來驅趕Co2避免魚隻受害？
在Co2的來源上小弟是使用檸檬酸和重碳酸鈉的溶液所產生的Co2氣泡通入水中的，雖然是以計算12小時的反應速度來調配用量，並沒有電力的問題，但這還是很浪費的作法（而且每天還得換一次），因為產生的氣泡非常的多，也許加入您的方法可以減少用量或者是增加溶解量（不讓這麼多的氣泡一下子竄到水面）
很早以前業者延用的擴散筒雖然有用，可是很佔空間且不甚美觀，所以小弟會覺得拿到外面養殖時，用容器倒過來壓在水中不讓氣泡流失或許會比較可行，可是這還是缺乏充分的水流來溶解這麼多的氣泡。

Biker: actually the bioballs serve 2 purposes. (1) to break up the co2 bubbles, (2) to serve as anchoring surface for the bubbles. Gas bubbles will tend to attach themselves to surfaces. So if the bubbles stay in the reactor longer, and with more surface area contact with water, they will get dissolved better. The idea is sort of like wet-dry filtering: provide maximum contact area. So, in principle, other things can be used instead.
My Co2 is from compressed gas, controlled by a solenoid valve with timer. So i have no problem about overdose at night.
I guess it is better than a diffuser cuz ceramic diffuser needs high pressure (diy co2 usually is low pressure). Most importantly, the CO2 doesn't get wasted, so u need less co2 injected into the tank to get a desirable concentration.
Btw, having an active water circulation is important to "force dissolve" all co2.

Btw, I was thinking of controlling the flow of diy co2. If a fine adjustment valve (ie low pressure needle valve or sth) can be used, then maybe a constant flow rate can be achieved, provided the diy co2 bottle(whether it be yeast or citric acid+sodium bicarb) always have larger than atmospheric pressure in it.
