Thank you so much Emil. Now that I do a search on "Villavicencio Dwarf Cichlid". It comes up with Apistogramma Macmasteri Redtail.

I got it from San Francisco, Ocean aquarium for $8. Too bad all the females are sold out. He is fighting big time with my blue Borellii right now.....

Keeping aquarium plants is not as fun as in HK. Since most of the suppliers are very close by HK, you got a lot more selections. Beside, US has all these restrictions on aquarium plant import....for example, "tropical sunset" is consider illegal right now in most state.

I ordered most of my plants on-line which is a bit more reasonable in price. However, if a plant is sold out, it is sold out in the US....damn. Like I was looking for 鹿角苔 for almost a yr. I was lucky enough to get some for free from my local fish store last week....

Anyway, may be I should open up my own fish store...haha...dreaming....

Beside, California is extra troublesome in terms of plant import (even from another state in the US).....

Emil 兄, my sis is going back to HK. Any suggestion for good store to visit?? I want to buy some ADA stuffs, if they are not that pricy.

I once used to throw away practically a bucket size of riccia, they are so prolific at the right condition!
US aquarium products are very pricy compared here. I use to visit some aquarium sites (BBS) in US very often, and notice the usually high price stuffs.
However, i did ordered some live aquatic plants online from US once. Rhizome plants (red tiger lily, aponegaton, etc) survive quite well for the trip, but definitely not for stem plants.
In US, there are many local aquarium clubs, u can try joining one of them. They meet together regularly for plant trade, plant auction and general socializing. Should be good to get
nice, rare plants, get advice, interacts.

Oh, i must add that Takashi Amano is very famous among the local fish clubs there. I think the AGA (aquatic gardeners association) there organize annual aquascaping contests, and one year (last year?? or the year b4 last), they invited Amano over there to give seminar and demo.

ps. in case u don't know who Amano is, he is owner (?, or having a big stake) of the ADA line of aquarium products.

On the other hand, I throw away tiger lily, and aponegaton leaves every other week....hehe....

It is all because of Amano, riccia is very hard to come by. Some bugger is willing to pay $30 for a 8"x8". You will be a very very very rich man if you are here.

There is no good local forum in the bayarea, that's why I am here in this forum. Beside, peoples are nicer and more helpful over here. Hmm, may be I should start a local forum and host it myself.....let me think about it.

They use to be expensive over here, that's why i ordered online. But they are cheap now, so better buy local here.

I don't mean forum, i mean local fish club, there are many in US. Let me know where u are located and maybe i will have a look out for u next time i browse those BBS in US. Apparently those clubs are very active and organize many activities over there.

Of course u can continue to come here. Fish friends have no boundary!
