New wood (those cheap cheap $10 wood) soap in water for 10 days already, water still very yellow.... do I need to boil it le??

Try using concentrate saline

Should run it with boiling water first then soap it. That would shorten the time leaving it in water before putting it into your tank.

I use hot water already ga la. not 100c law. Hot water for bath.

用煲煲佢

hot water from tap not hot enough la! boil a pot (until boiling point) enough to cover the piece of wood ma. Kills germs too! And then run an air stone over night.

起碼煲返個多小時才夠, 跟住介要泳浸多一日水, 脫色情況會大大改善~~

Before I put the wood into my tank, I boil them 3 times, about 2 hours every attempt, and then soap into cold water for 2-3 days before I boil it again.

Still, after 3 rounds of treatment, the wood still make my water "yellowish" for 4-5 months. It turn pale slowly and the only treatment is to change water regularly during this period.

I used boiling water to dissolve bags of salt to disinfect the wood pc. Then soak them in cold water. I think I soak them for at least 10 times. But the color stays a bit. I then turned to bleach. Dilute it to 1:80 approx. Soak them and rinse them thoroughly. The color goes away. Works for me really. U may try.

Some woods just soak into hot high concentrate salt water is fine. But some are not. I got a piece soaked for over a month, the color keep split out over another couples month. Finally, I have to cook it another 2 hours, it's fine now.
