水草情迷

各位大人:

本人fishtank is 24' and use 背掛type 瀘水器(放瀘材空間不是很多). 用開活性炭及楾花做瀘材.近來發現多了藻. 現在請問應如何選擇瀘材或瀘材組合減低藻類生長?
(市面有很多選擇: 生物,吸氨石,活性炭,防藻沙,麥飯石...........)

除鱗劑啦....可以減少藻類生長...不過唔可以放太多......魚街賣50蚊左右啦...我用JBL o既.

係冇o既... 只要有一個運作得好好o既過濾, 有大量硝化細菌, 維持一個好的水質, 密植水草, 就是減少藻類滋生o既要訣.
你用掛缸, 先天上已經唔夠地方比硝化菌依附, 生化過濾作用可能較差. 而且可以不用活性炭, 只用白綿, 可能更佳.

如果我選擇外置式瀘筒, 那邊幾隻瀘材應該使用呢?(生物,機械式,化學式...)

初時，我都有這個問題。用過吸氨石、不知是否真的活性炭，全部都冇用。只有浪費金錢。其實，初設缸時應該多換水，加一些硝化菌，頭两個星期應該每日換水三分一，最多一星期要換水，之後就减少換水次數。直到三個月才開始産生硝化菌。無胃浪費金錢。

沒錯！但效率較差！

Just a personal sharing, maybe wrong, the bio-bactiera need time to establish by themselves, if too frequent water changes, it simply throw the bacteria away. As a result, it will make the N-cycle much longer. Personally would recommend weekly 10-15% water changes. Minimum fish stock. Continue aeration. At this moment, at few test kit is worthwhile to invest. PH, Nitrite and Nitrate so that we know our tank N-cycle characteristic. Once the N-cycle finish, I guess only PH and Nitrate test kits are needed. Or maybe CO2 and Fe also for plant tank. Then can slowly add fish, plants, CO2, lights......etc

I think its all unnecessary for planted, except you might need 活性炭 sometimes to get rid of medication or excessive iron fast. For some of us, with highlight and CO2, the only option would be use more plants to take up excessive nutrients, have less animals to decrease amount of nutrient produced.

Yes, and this is the only feasible way. The formula is, plants grow -> algae die, plant die -> algae grow. And its just about nutrient management, NOT nutrient removal.

I think so. However, my 24" tank have 矮珍珠 and 牛毛尖 cover about 1/2 area and some other plant. but it still "藻類滋生" on it.........

Moreover, for the new setup tank (My tank have been setup for 4 months), the plant is easy attacked by 藻!!!!!!!!!

As mentioned in previous post, even your tank is 4 years or 40 years, it is impossible to get rid of algae, it is just a matter of whether it is under control or not. Even in natural environment still has algae, how can we get rid of it in a tank?

I would like to add a point you might need some fast growing plants. both you have mentioned is not that "fast", those plants have to take the nutrient faster than algae. Remember, requirement of both plants and algae is similar. It depends on who take all the food and who to be starved.

The ultimate filter media to be using should be filter cotton (mechanical) and bio-filter media only. All other media (吸氨石,活性炭,防藻沙,麥飯石) are not necessary in a well balanced tank. We can use them temporarily only when necessary, when the equilibirium of our tank is lost.
