Please Please advise does the ADA Mud really can keep the PH down for a permanently... I am in the process to upgrade my tank to be a 30 inch one,,,well for me this size is very big enough!!! you know the HK living space right,,,
Please let me know which shop can get the best price??
Does the PH change level subject to the colour of the mud,,
Red?? Black?? Brown??
How many Kg I need to used on my 30" w x 16"d tank.

根據ＡＤＡ介紹，她的泥其實沒有說會將ＰＨ值下降到多少度，而只有說到可以將ＰＨ值保持在弱酸性，以適合不同地區的魚和草生長．


黑色 - 南美州

紅色 - 非洲

淺啡色 - 馬來西亞


在很大程度上，不同色都只是為了營造不同的景觀，因為我們都不會只養一個地區的魚或草．

建議全部都只用泥，不要加其他沙在底，因為沙中可能有石灰質，會令ＫＨ上升，間接令ＰＨ不會下降的．而且換草時都會美觀些．

一包大的ＡＤＡ泥，有９公升的容量，需要多少就自已用計數機按一按吧，因為每一個人需要的厚度都不同呀．

一條很簡單的代數　： （長ｘ闊ｘ高）ｃｍ／１０００　＝　ｘｘ升

Find out from the shopkeeper and other users said the Black colour can keep the PH down to 5 to 6 at the beginning, Red and Brown colour is about 6.0 to 6.5.
Consider the effect from this mud will change, eventurally the PH will go up again!
Finally I get the Black colour one.

Any comment from other ADA'mud users??

如果以我的經驗，剛放紅泥時，ｐｈ是４．ｘ　添，其中原因是ｋｈ不足，做成ｐｈ　ｂｕｆｆｅｒ　唔平衡，現在過了兩個月，ｐｈ在沒有燈時，只有５．６－５．８之間，有時都要加梳打粉來增加ｋｈ，令ｐｈ可以高些．

如果ａｄａ沒有錯，所有泥其實都可以用來種草，會令ｐｈ在弱酸狀態，你看看我種的太陽草，生長得很好，就知了．

Dear aquatist here:

My tank is 30" about 140L excluding substrat volume. Last time I have used the ADA african type soil before. The ph & kh were very low after tested by sera kits and it was maintain quite a long time. I was very afraid and quickly cover a 1" thick gravel sand on top immediately (foolish??) and found the ph & kh raised after water change. But... due to the huge outbreak of "black hair algae several months later caused.. may be the very "little" filtration rate by a unkown-maker external filter (china??) with cheap price. Finally I re-construct the whole thing (change to Fluva 204) and use back the common "holland" sand (Actually some shells mixed inside) but ok to keep ph around neutral and kh 6 dKh until now.

Yesterday, I tested the water parameters, ph around 7 and kh 6 dkH. As my general treatment, I'm using sera aquatan and morena to the pre-treated bucket of 40L water filtered by azoo carbon and air-pumping over night.

Actally something I don't really understand that if the ph & the kh (ADA soil) are so low, how the livestock can live inside? Many books and the 3 volume of "Natural Aquarium World" by Amano in my bookshield were mentioned ph to be 6.8 and kh around 5 dKh. So could here many expert kindy giving your point of view on these figures? Because books said kh should be between 5 to 10 to stabilize the buffer of co2 injection and ph should not too low, lower than 6 would cause grills damage. And so, how can we share experience that the method and procedure to place the existing fishes when changing layout.......many thanks to look at this long and foolish word..
