I never agree people DIY electric item for aquarium. BTW, this time, I could say nothing but good............I believe Andrew "Hing" have some basic concept in electric field , by such prof. & beautiful outlook, I may dare to say this DIY HQI must be safety than some aquarium HQI set from China. Anyway, Andrew "Hing"---Is it possible to expose more details of this DIY HQI to the fish friend here ???(Such as where to buy the parts , dimension, drawing lay-out) I would say this is the best DIY HQI I saw..............

Yes I remember you Yip. Actually I made one light which was exactly same as you, but the outlook was too "heavy" since i have two 150W light but you only had one.

Yes for the covering which I haven't finished yet. I was thinking using 0.3mm stainless steel by bending it nicely. Well do you guys have any idea ?

Thank you for Kit's comment. I was bit afraid DIY for such high temperature and high voltage at first since I don't want to burn my house down. So, I did manage to change all the wires in the casing to high temperature wires and cover them all with heat resistance wire tunnel. Of course cooling fan was used for constant air flow for both the light and the transformer.

200 for a HQI is really cheap! i found a set HQI with Phlip transformer, super white Osram 150W and china case in PRC cost RMB338. Could u let me know if it is the same make up.

Due to hot air is rise up, The fans are install in the top of the case is much better
Now, You can drill the some holes on the top plate. I think it can improved more.
