泥炭土 = peat? For lowering pH?
I think "water grass shop" has the type specially for aquarium use.
But actually u can get pure sphagnum peat from the flower market. Many people in US/Canada used that to lower pH and kH. It is cheap too. (It is sphagnum peat, not sphagnum peat moss)

As long as it is pure sphagnum peat, with no other additive, then it can be used.

fluval有出一種peat fibre , 藍色盒 , 鱂魚好like躲進去 , 不過要放入花盤仔固定 , 唔係就會浮起晒

你去花墟買種花用果d就得架喇, 台灣都係咁. 但要留意唔好買泥中有d一粒粒白色果d, 果d係肥料, 入水會對魚有害. 你去繽紛問下話要一隻泥中冇任何肥料既, d職員就會指俾你睇.

非一年生既將魚係會生係浮水植物既根部, 但要係d根非常密集先有效, 因為若果只得小小根, 俾d魚見到d卵, 佢會食番. 台灣既繁殖場就會係一個好大既石屎缸入面放幾十棵布袋蓮, 咁就得. 但係屋企我斷估你個缸放唔到咁多掛, 所以就要放產卵拖把喇.(莫絲都得, 但效果亦不甚理想)

I read somewhere that 泥炭土 for aquarium is actually just finely ground & compacted sphagnum peat.

i bought some for my RAC
It is the bioplast product selling for $22(expensive! )
i forgot the shop's name,but i think it is one from 5-11 on the map of the on-top post

Mephisto: it is actually peat, not peat moss. Peat moss is the undecay moss, commonly use to grow orchid plant, pH=7. Peat is the semi-decay form of the peat moss. Peat is dark brown to black in color, acidic, contains high amount of tannic and humic acid, and are used to lower ph, soften water(lower kH) and to produce the so-called black water (black water is peat extract).

i would like to know if is peat same as 泥炭土?

I think the "peat" i mentioned above is a kind of filter media to lower the ph and kh,
However it may not suitable for spwaning of Killifish(peat diver)
because it floats on the water surface and never sink to the bottom

你都可以用上面那種泥碳苔作為一年生將魚既產床, 外國亦有玩家係咁, 如果你要佢沉水既話, 做法就同泥碳土一樣
