My view: I am born in HK and use traditional Chinese. But I think it is ok to use simplified Chinese. I think the point is HK, Taiwan, etc., have their own automony of which written form or oral form of language or dialect they want.

Jonhil, I think it is better to provide the sources for linguistic support of simplified Chinese rather than just saying so. For me, I think a written language will not be severely damaged by just changing from traditional Chinese to simplified Chinese. On the contrary, a more simple written language form will be of benefit to a country with so many people in all daily activities.

Although I can read and write Traditional, I have to type in English because it takes me ages to type 繁體 using 倉頡, and I don't know 國語, so I can't use 拼音. Now if someone can come up with a better, faster system or even a Chinese keyboard that can type Chinese in 60 characters per minutes it would be great.

The world nowadays depends highly on the speed of information exchange. From that point of view, Traditional Chinese takes a long time to learn, to write, and to master. Anyone here ever try skipping a few strokes on a certain character to save a little time? Does everyone write 馬 with four separate dots every time? How many people never write a wrong character or a character wrong? Simplified is an attempt to improve that.

However, Traditional characters do carry a lot of history. In my opinion, replacing a bunch of characters with one Simplified character of the same pronunciation DOES lose the meaning. They do need to impove that, although I can't think of any suggestion.

Everything evolves. Did our ancestors stop at 甲骨文? We just need to come up with the best way to take our written language to the next stage.

不過,我想如果你繼續用繁體,UN應該都唔會派人暗殺你.
