Hi Tomy,

Which rock do you mean? The one in the 24" tank or the one in the mantid's cube?
The rocks I put in the 24" tank was collected from Deep Water Bay beach by myself. Because they were collected from nature I have to use chlorine solution to kill off any unwanted organism on the surface of the rocks and then rinsed off with water. As for the rock in the mantid's cube it is an ADA lava/Fuji rock.

This is getting a little bit off the topic. I hope Super doesn't mind.
Praying mantids feed on other small insects. Flys and crickets are food easily available for mantid's keepers. It eats other insects alive!!. It's a bit like keeping a small alien but that's the fun of it. Its ambush and attack technique amaze many people and you have to see it to believe it. If anyone else interested in praying mantids you can send a pm to me to discuss more about it.

what is the name of the plant in your alien's cube, 'Shui Yung'? and, how could you attach it to the lava rock, by fish line?

Hi Tomy,

The plant is not a water plant so it is not "Shui Yung". I can't remember the name of the plant but it is just a very common house plant bought from Fa Hui.
The lava rock is an ADA rock with a big hole drilled. You can buy it from Fat Tat. I just use it as a flower pot and transfered the whole pot of plant to the hole in the lava rock. You can use the same rock to grow water plants of course. Are you interested in the rocks I used?

Perhaps I shall try to get some there. Besides, a friend of mine told me that there are a lot of pretty rocks in the stream in Tai Mo Shan. Maybe anyone interested in it can go there to take a look.

It is true that there are a lot of beautiful rocks which can be found in the nature. After all, I believe those rocks selling in fish street are all collected from the nature, even the ADA rocks! One thing I want to point out is that don't over collect rocks from our nature. Take what you need but keep in mind that don't destroy nature just to satisfy our own desire.
I like hiking a lot and I been to Tai Mo Shan several times. I'm sure that there will be some beautiful rocks too.

I have read ADA's website. They CREATE the outlook of their rocks as everybody can subscribe the combination shown in the website. I wonder if their rocks are hand-made and modified from natural rocks or they actually are hand-made substance.
