1. mineral water bottle (free)
2. plastic pipe (HKD5.00)
3. 2 azoo L joint (HKD8.00)
4. plastic tightener. (HKD0.2)
5. small transparent L joint (HKD1.00)

Step 1) (the bottle)
1. cut the top of the bottle and make water inlet as shown.
2. cut small holes for plastic tightener and let the tightener to get through.
3. drill holes at the middle of the bottle as mid level water inlet.
4. cut hole for the Azoo L joint.

Step 2) (the S pipe)
1. Join plastic pipe with Azoo L joint as shown.
2. Drill holes in the water outlet pipe. ( 1 )
3. Drill hole at the lower part of the S pipe and pug in the small L joint for the air hose. ( 2)

Step 3) (the filter)
1. Join step 1 and 2 together and make the filter.
2. Fill filter materials into the bottle up to your own preference.

This filter serves three purposes.
1) Filter.
2) Oil eliminator.
3) Rain forest.

Hi,

Yes, this filter is driven by air pump. Fortunately, there is not much sound make by the bobbles.
I made two filters two months ago.
The first filter were made with the same idea but the air pipe was tided inside the bottle (as shown). This allow easier step for completion but takes up space for filter material.
The second filter were made with different idea (as shown).
The efficience of both filters can be seen in the third photo. I seems the left area with the first filter in use is more pure the the right area with the second filter in use.
The overall draw back of the filter is : you have to be careful when breeding because it sucks fries. You may have to block all water inlet with cotton.
