水草情迷

I live in Canada, and i 'm new to 養短鯛 so i want to know what is the english name for 水妖精?and what other filters would you guys recommend because i don't think 水妖精 is available in my place?i will get a 12"x12"x12" tank!
the only fish i can get here is 荷蘭鳳凰, so any advices for having this fish will be useful too

2. soil balls that can lower PH.

I think 水妖精should be sponge filter and 草泥丸should be peat.
