[問題] Question about 根肥 / 基肥

Hi,

My tanks had setup for 4 months now but the plants do not grow well - I changed plant types several times but all end up become dark, and melted stems.

I recently (about 1 month ago) grew "mini tiger-ear", they grew up with many "air roots", I cut the upper stem and replant but all died with melted stems.

Questions:
1. Did I miss any 肥? I used ADA african soil, TMG liquid 肥, ADA Bright K and ECA. Do I need to add 根肥 / 基肥?

2. Did I cut and replant a wrong way?

I am not familiar with ADA Africana, but I believe it should have enough substance to make your plant grow even without adding 根肥 or 基肥 in a newly setup planted tank, especially when you applied TMG, ADA Brigh K and ECA regualry. The 根肥 can be added regularly after the initial period, and a properly setup 基肥 layer will extend the "life" of your soil foundation.

To probe into the case in detail, you hve to tell us the size (in LxWxH) of the aquarium, lighting equipment used and lighting hours, usage of CO2, and your filtering system. It would be even better if you can provide a photo of your planted aquarium.

My tank is:

24' x 12" x 14" Tank. ADA African soil.
2 x 24W T5HO tubes. Turn on 3PM - 7PM & 9PM - 1AM. 1 CO2 bubble per second sync with T5HO
I use a P.10 filter.

I did a bit plant cut today (as the mini tiger ears are full with air roots), here are my tank before (IMG_8199) and after (IMG_8946) the plant cut.

Did you also check the ph and temp of your tank?
Try to not turn on your light for 4+4 hours (twice) a day, make it once a day 8 hours.
I have the same size of tank as yours, I am using T8 15Wx4. (2:30pm-11:30pm)

Your tank is still in setup stage, and you don't have a lot of red plant, so you don't need to use two-phase lighting at this stage. Stick with 8 hours in one continuous sessions for the moment. When you need to extend the lighting to beyond 8 hours, then you can implement 2 phase lighting, andI prefer 3hr + 6 hrs arrangement when I do that.

You used a lot of stone, maybe you sould remove the black stone on the left temporary and see what happened.

P10 is on the small side for 24" aquarium, I would go for P20 at least.

I tried 8-hours a day before but produce a lot of "green platform" (sorry canot type Chinese) on the glass. OK let me try again.

Oh the black one is actually a wood.

P10 is too small? Mmm... let me think, because I don't have much space for a big filter.

yes ,P10 is too small in 24" tank

l think p20,p30 or EX 90-120 is better

2 x 24W T5HO tubes is not enough

3x 24W T5HO is better

is it 6500k tubes?

2x24w T5HO is a good starter, you can stick with it at the moment, when the plant start to grow with density, you need one more set of lighting, either1x36W PL, or another 2x24w T5HO

That means the plant is not growing too well, just leave it for the moment, once the water getting better, the plant will grow pretty fast and you can get rib of the rots when cut away the bottom part and replant.
