如果經常換水NITRATE仍然太高, 那麼你魚缸容量和養魚量可能遠超過比例, 以致NITRATE累積得太快, 吃不消了.

I also think that the loading of your tank may be too high!

I can recall that there is a product manufactured by Sera, "NO3 filter", which reduces NO3 in an anaerobic environment. From my previous experience of keeping marine fish, you may also try using a very thick layer of sand/substrate, which can also serves as a denitrying zone in your aquarium.

my tap water in Quarry Bay only have max 5ppm recorded by using DOC WELLFISH NO3 tester.


but using the shity Hagen POOR NO3 tester, it show 50ppm above everytimes.

用蒸餾水....屈記蒸餾水保証純水...ph 7, kh=0, gh=0 no3=0................
其它o的蒸餾水唔知點解會偏酸?

Don't trust too much on the NO3 test kits. Those kits are
pretty unreliable and the result can be affected by many many factors. The water authority data should be much much more reliable than the best of the test kits in fish street.
So if ur test kit measures way out even on water straight from
tap, u can throw it away!

TAM: pure distilled water is actually slightly acidic due to atmospheric CO2 disolve in it to form weak carbonic acid.
In pure distilled water, there is no pH buffer, so the acidity is even more pronounced.
Actually, even in normal tank water, if u bubble in CO2, u reduce the pH due to the weak carbonic acid as well.

Formula:
H2O + CO2 = H2CO3
H2CO3= H+ + HCO3-

The H+ gives rise to acidity
