I have same feeling like you said that You read plant was good but not really red.
If you search my discussion in the past you find I used a lot of different kind of T5 Ho and T5.
T5Ho is good for all green plant but it cannot make red plant very red. Your tank is not as high as mine so you do not have my problem. I use 4 T5 and 4 T5 Ho in my 200 liter tank. 22 inch height.
If I use all Philips tube, the red plant is pink. I use 2 pcs 960 it become very very red in the top 3 inch of the plant. However I cannot find 960 any more. On the other hand, if I use all 4 pcs of T5 Ho 960 tube, it is not as bright as 860.
In the past , I put 4 pcs 960 onto a 70 liter tank. It make red plant as red as blood. However, It make terrible algae.
This is my comment that if you want red plant very very red, you shall not buy t5ho. If you just put one or two plant inside and your majority is green plant, t5ho is a good choice, especailly the tank is below 20 inch in height.
If someone know where can buy 960 now, tell me. Thanks a lot.
