Hi all high-hands,

I already "reversed" my tank using ADA black mud, after two weeks, the water is always around pH 6.0 and 1~2 dkH

May be too early to think, how long would this can be maintained lee? When does it requires mud replacement?

BTW, as known that the new mud has nutrients which does not requires "fat", but generally when "root fat" should add later lee? and which kind of "root fat" you are using lee?

The plants I'm keeping are "Echinodorus" species ar

well.. for my 1 year ADA mud tank, because I usually change & cut the grass, I feel that the mud break down to small pieces quickly. But I think if you do not mind that, mud can use about two to three year.

Instead of the mud have nutrient, some grass still need more fertilizer such as sun grass, 百葉. So I will put some root fertilizer near such grass root. I use the root fertilizer sold at fishstreet some shop about $28, is a Japanese brand, small red box. Most TW friend use it, I think it is good and cheap. You can found it at 濱x easily.

Yes, my a year old ADA black soild also begin to breakdown into fine dust and 'melt' especially in the top layer. It makes the water cloudy and take longer to settle when I remove plant from trimming especially in the area without 'carpet' grass. A web friend told me that I can add some new soil to cover the area that I remove the plants from. I tried and it seems working.

The pH of my tank is gradually move back to neutral after a year. But I think it is not all bad, I feel a bit more control with pH buffers / KH / pH down agents.

Also as Super said, I added root tabs / other laterites "solid fertilizer" to the densely planted area.

if the root fertilizer is for aquarium plant, it will not affect the water codition. But you must insert the root fertilizer below the surface at least 1 inch.
